SYNTAX / HELP DESK
Start small.
Ask anything.
A few direct answers about learning, practice, accounts, and the coding tutor.
How the lessons work
Is Syntax okay if I have never coded before?
Yes. The first stages explain what a line does in everyday words, show a small example, and ask one short question at a time. You can reveal a hint or retry an answer.
What happens after the 5 questions?
You get a practical exercise. Change the greeting in a short code example, check your edit, then the next stage unlocks.
What if I get an answer wrong?
Nothing is taken away. Read the feedback, open a hint, and try again. Checkpoint exams can be retaken after you review the answers.
Does the editor run every programming language?
No. The guided examples teach you to read code and follow its result. The practical check looks for the requested edit; it does not compile or execute arbitrary code.
How does the difficulty go up?
Early ranks focus on messages, values, choices, and repetition. Later ranks introduce reusable code, data, debugging, algorithms, and larger project ideas.
Your progress & sign-in
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign in before starting a course. Your account keeps your learning progress available across devices.
Where is my progress saved?
Before sign-in, progress is stored in this browser. After sign-in, Syntax syncs it to your account. Keep the same account when you switch devices.
Can I choose another language later?
Yes. Each language keeps its own question and stage progress, so you can switch without replacing another path.
Help from the coding tutor
What should I ask Nova?
Ask what one line means, why an error happens, or what small step to try next. Sharing the exact error and what you expected usually helps.
Why might Nova be unavailable?
Live replies depend on the server’s AI provider configuration and usage limits. If providers are unavailable, the lesson and question checks still work.
Should I paste private code or keys?
No. Do not send passwords, API keys, or confidential source code to an AI tutor.
